Christmas Eve

December 24th 2007. Christmas Eve.

The heart for this family reunion was, is, and will ever be, the abuela's home. Exactly as the abuelita's home was for the Gameros back in Arequipa, Peru.

Angela bought the last minute presents, cleaned up the family room, wrapped all the presents, fixed the meal, etc. The Christmas tree was already done, also the "nacimiento". Stephen helped abuela with the tree before he was taken to Arizona. He even hung key holders with small dolls.

Veronica and Ale came first, then the Gameros and the Ovards. We had a delicious food. When Kate was eating the food she said: "Hmm. This is good." Angela was so happy for her words.

Before midnight we sang carols before the nacimiento. First in English, then in Spanish. Ryan was so excited and happy singing the carols. He was asking the whole evening to go ahead and open the presents. But he had to wait.

After the hugs we opened the presents. Kate an Ryan were so excited about opening the presents, but after a few presents for them, Ryan was kind of disappointed because of the pajamas and T-shirts, and few toys. He was asking: "No more presents for me?" Angela felt bad.
The problem is that some abuelos think that clothes are good presents for kids. Wrong! Little children expect toys, not clothes. And during Christmas time that's a sin. So I will repent.

One of the transformers was impossible to transform it into a war tank, even reading the instructions.

We were very happy though, and had a lot of fun, and promoted a family love to be remembered for years.

Lilly called up to join and share this family spirit.
